Since the early 1950s, the teacher training program at the Experimental Kindergarten of Beijing Normal University (BNUK) has reached a high level. Two experts from the Soviet Union, Galina and Manu Elaine Ko were assigned by the Ministry of Education to teach in the Department of Education at BNU and to direct the kindergarten work and teacher training programs. Subsequently, the Experimental Kindergarten of Beijing Normal University actively contributed to the training of the first preschool teachers in the new China.

Since the Reform and Opening-up, BNUK has been an internationally well-known kindergarten and has become a window to the world of preschool education in China. In the early 1980s, BNUK undertook many teacher training programs commissioned by the government education department and accumulated a wealth of training experience. In recent years, BNUK has offered even more training opportunities to kindergartens in China’s central and western regions.

In 2012, Beijing Normal University Preschool Education Training Center was established, which is under the dual leadership of the Education and Training Management Office of Beijing Normal University and the Experimental Kindergarten. With the strong expert resources of Beijing Normal University, the center relies on the century-old experimental kindergarten of Beijing Normal University to carry out educational training. With the strategic goal of cultivating "four good" teachers and excellent managers, the center adopts the forms of job shadowing, customized programs, special training, base training and online training to lead the professional development of kindergarten staff while radiating high-quality preschool education to all parts of China, playing an active role in leading and promoting the development of preschool education in China.
